CPD Coordinator – Social Care Ireland

Social Care Ireland are seeking a highly motivated Social Care Worker for the post of CPD Coordinator.

Job Specification

Overall Responsibility:

To enhance Social Care Workers’ engagement with Social Care Ireland (SCI) as the professional body for Social Care Workers, with the primary purpose of supporting Social Care Workers to prepare for registration with CORU and to engage with Continued Professional Development (CPD).

Job Description

  • Coordination of CPD Events including undertaking CPD needs analysis, consultation with members, SIG’s, CPD Working Group etc., preparation of funding proposals and management of budget in this regard, liaising with facilitators, arranging venues/catering etc., management of advertisement, registration for events, onsite coordination (as required), evaluation, finance (including invoicing, processing of expenses) and reports to funders.

  • Support Social Care workers’ preparation for Statutory Registration.  This includes but is not limited to regularly delivering information talks and presentations to colleges, organisations and Social Care Workers nationally on registration requirements for Social Care Workers, CPD requirements and Fitness to Practice issues.  Dissemination of information through use of mailshot system, development of CPD bulletins etc.

  • Enhancing structures and supports for Social Care Workers’ engagement in CPD – includes ongoing consultation with CPD Working Group (key priority area is review and further development of SCI CPD Policy and Portfolio), coordination of External CPD Course endorsement application process, coordination of CPD Portfolio audit of SCI members, effectively responding to queries regarding CPD and future statutory requirements. (Another key priority will be to research and identify online recording tools to support Social Care Workers to maintain records and demonstrate engagement in CPD to regulator).

  • Management of Social Care Ireland website including regularly updating news posts, managing membership, advertisement and management of events booking system, responding to emails and queries from members and non-members.  Management of all social media including responding to emerging issues.

  • On-going development of communication strategy to members and non-members to increase the profile of SCI.

  • Effectively communicate and advance the vision and aims of Social Care Ireland, as crucial to this advancement is increasing membership of SCI.  Promote active engagement of members with their professional body.

  • Support Social Care Ireland Board and/or working groups in developing position papers, managing consultation processes with members and preparation of reports as required, development of required policies and/or governance structures in line with company/charity regulatory requirements.

  • Undertake research and other projects as required on contemporary and emergent issues in the field of Social Care using various methods of data collection such as Survey Monkey and focus groups for example.  Provide supervision and oversight of any project for which Social Care Ireland engages external resources.  A Key objective for 2017 will be development of comprehensive communications strategy for SCI to inform and educate Social Care Workers about registration, CPD and fitness to practice.

  • Provide guidance and supports to members/non-members contacting Social Care Ireland with a variety of queries.

  • Representation on behalf of Social Care Ireland on a variety of boards, committees and groups as required including liaising with other health and social care professions and providers of health and social care services where social care workers have a scope of practice.

  • Ongoing advocacy to promote high standards of professional practice with variety of stakeholders including CORU, statutory bodies, colleges, organisations and practitioners.

  • Participate in regular supervision and annual appraisal and assist in identifying own job-related CPD needs.

  • Project a positive image of SCI at all times.

  • Always act in the best interest of SCI.

  • Undertake any duties commensurate with the role as directed by line manager and/or SCI Board.

Salary:

Salary equates with experience.  It will be in line with agreed public sector rates for social care workers and confirmed at job offer stage.
