ABLE equips Social care practitioners with the skills and steps involved in building an effective working relationship, establishing boundaries, listening actively and reflectively, and empowering service users to create solutions to their own issues.

Following the training, participants will be able to:

1. Use the skills of the brief intervention model ABLE in day to day practice to provide opportunities to clients and colleagues, to share concerns and challenges they face in establishing and / maintaining healthy and supportive relationships.
2. Identify the challenges service users may have in building supportive relationships and gain insights into what their behaviour may mean using evidence based information
3. Incorporate mentalisation based skills (i.e. perceiving and interpreting human behaviour in terms of intentional mental states e.g. needs, desires, feelings, beliefs, goals, purposes, and reasons) into their work and outline how they will continue to develop these.

85% of ABLE participants so far in 2017 will use the ABLE model at least once a week in their work with clients. (59% daily, 26% at least once a week)

What is the course cost?

The subsidised cost for 2017 is €225 per person, payable through Eventbrite. You can also contact us on 021-5005915 to arrange an alternative payment method.

How long is each training day?

The training will be delivered by two experienced and licensed Ag Eisteacht trainers over 3 days which run from 9.30am to 4.30pm. The first day is held two weeks before the second and third, which are held consecutively.
